Instrument Training

  • 40 hours of actual or simulated* instrument time.
    • 15 hours of instrument training from a CFII
    • Cross-country flight procedures that include at least one cross-country flight in an airplane that is performed under IFR and consists of:
    • A distance of at least 250NM along airways or ATC-directed routing.
    • An instrument approach at each airport.
    • Three different kinds of approaches with the use of navigation systems.

*If the instrument training was provided by a CFII, a maximum of 20 hours may be accomplished in an approved flight simulator or flight-training device.

Pre-requisite: At least 50 hours of cross-country flight time as pilot in command, of which at least 10 hours must be in airplanes for an instrument -- airplane rating.

* Note: Flight and instruction times vary according to the student's ability and the frequency of flight lessons. This package price is based on the student completing the course in the course in the MINIMUM time needed to earn the rating. If additional flight time or instruction is needed, additional payments may be required. Program cost can also be reduced by the use of our simulator.
